Musical Brothers

Listen, and enjoy to the musical stylings of the Gibson Brothers.

Tree 2010

Last year they were some of the last photos I took as my camera lens decided to die, this post, from two years ago, is absolutely slaying me. This is Henry's fourth year in the tree, and Fisher's first. Ironically, Henry was very uneasy up there this year and I only got one picture that he didn't look absolutely terrified. (the blooms are still up, maybe there is time to try again!) Fisher decided he liked the view from up there.

Flowers for Mama

I am one lucky Mama, Henry ALWAYS brings me flowers. From the time the first blooms appear he picks any flower in sight and gleefully brings them to me. I have little shot glasses of water around the kitchen window holding an array of specially picked dandelions. I find them in his cubby at school because he has picked them and is saving them for me later. I have dead ones in my cup holder in my car, the remains of some in the bottom of my purse, some go through the wash, forgotten in my pockets. We've had a couple of cases of not understanding what is a "pickable" flower and I've had to run to catch him as he is getting ready to pick a bloom of someone's carefully planted potted flowers, but I think he understands now what is free, and my favorite, to pick.

Movie Night

We have definitely outgrown our little place...but we love where we live so much I can't imagine not being there. A few Fridays ago one of our neighbors organized an outdoor movie viewing party. Adults, kids, and dogs all gathered to play a little cornhole and take in a few flicks. A great time!

Express Lane?

We had a strange and kind of scary thing happen in our neighborhood the other day. An elderly lady mixed up the accelerator and the brake and crashed into our Kroger. There were only minor injuries and it is a miracle that no one was killed. The boys love any rescue vehicle and any sort of official with a uniform, so we walked over to watch the action.

She really got in there. The tire marks are still on the floor, which is kind of creepy. I walk past them at a pretty quick pace.

Not much damage considering. A good ad for Cadillac? If you are prone to confuse the pedals in your car, buy a Caddy, they'll really stand up to a building.

The boys were interested in it all for awhile, but as the action started to wane, the boys found an old weathered Mickey Mouse ball under some shrubs and that became much more interesting. This is what's left of Henry's birthday pinata. He's still very attached to it. I'm tempted to sneak it into the bed with him with some fake blood and take pictures, a la The Godfather. It might scare him now but he'll think it is really cool when he gets older.

The boys are really enjoy playing together now that Fisher is older.

And that is just about all I can ask for.

Gardening

Henry got a little gardening kit from Mommy Ann for his birthday. One sunny afternoon he got very excited about testing out his green thumb. We really enjoyed the process, but I'm not sure the Sesame Street seeds are going to do anything. Don't tell him, but I'm going to have to go buy some seedlings and sneak them into the pots under the cover of darkness and pretend that we were successful.

Easter 2010

This was our first year dying eggs.

It was fun...very vinegary.

The colors were bright...

Funny how it just turned my fingers black.

Fisher must take after me, he likes his accessories.

Matter fact, he takes his sunglass styling after me too. He likes to put them on top of his head like me.

Except then he calls it his "hat".

We're on our way to Uncle Cav and Aunt Whit's where the Easter Bunny told us he had hidden the boys eggs.

I love that Fisher is rocking a pink "foof". It was bought at a sketchy Rite Aid one time in a slight crisis. We lose foofs* all the time, but it is amazing how this pink one just keeps showing up.
(*we have been calling them foofs, but school calls them binkies, so sometimes those terms get merged and we call them "boofs".)

I should have known from the look in his eyes that this day wasn't going to be all happy fuzzy bunnies and fancy eggs.

And the hunt begins...

We had a few victims.

The boys had help making sure all the eggs were found.

The bounty.

And keeping up a happy face starts to fade.

Done. I have finally figured out parenting tip #312...any holiday will involve one or more children getting sick or melting down. Just the laws of nature. We accept that now.

Happy Easter!
