Tailgate #4

Hanging with our "older" friend Rigdon. (by 1 week)

They're is always time at a tailgate to play football with our friend Annie's daddy and a new friend.

Mirror mirror on the wall...

You think I'm kidding? Poppy, circa, um, sometime long long ago. ;-)

The Men. Good thing I like hanging out with them, I am outnumbered most of the time.

More proof of our warm Autumn this year. Henry's sweet pink cheeks!

I swear I think this is an adult size helmet but we get so used to Henry looking like a little bobble head in it that when an adult puts it on it looks...well, no offense Sweetie, kind of funny.

Mommy's Birthday at Keeneland

I've always been so glad my birthday is in October. It is a great month, especially in Lexington...changing leaves, Keeneland, UK football, orchards, etc. For my birthday this year my boys and I spent the afternoon watching the horses.

While we were getting ready to go I think Fisher had a question for Henry..."What the heck...

...are you doing with my ear?"

Seriously! What the heck?

Helping Daddy pick a horse.

Poor Fisher, he goes everywhere and does everything with us, but because I'm the one taking pictures and he is usually with with me in the Baby Bjorn or in the stroller, he doesn't get a lot of good photo ops. So for his sake, here is another picture proving that he was there.

Have I mentioned how hot it was that day? See the parasols? See the manly men sitting in the swanky boxes swallowing their pride to shield themselves from the early October blistering sun with the Keeneland provided lacy parasols? It must be one of those things that they've done since the beginning or something, because otherwise, it is just silly...it is called the Sport of Kings for goodness sake.

I can never remember why I took certain pictures of the horses after the race. I have grand plans to take a picture of my pick in the paddock, then during the race as he is hopefully winning and then one after he leaves the winners circle, and as Henry says, going back to the barn to eat some hay and take a nap. But in honesty, I don't know if I've ever actually succeeded in that plan. They're still pretty, no?

Skateboard, Dude

I guess because I'm writing this in December I'm realizing with nostalgia that these were some of the last great days to play outside. Just a long sleeve t-shirt and jeans, bright sunshine and some leaves just starting to show color...a perfect day for a little skateboarding and climbing trees.

I'm a little scared about how natural he looks on a skateboard!

October at the Cabin

In October we went to Madisonville for a visit with the family and stayed at Granddad's cabin.

Ed brought down Henry's little beach tent for a little playhouse.

The word is apparently out about how good Granddad treats the geese and ducks...the pond was FULL of them.

I always enjoy my time in the hammock at the cabin, I'm always sad to see it taken down in late fall.

The hammock is always relaxing, except, on this trip I noticed the many healthy walnuts dangling directly overhead and cringing a little as they made a thud on the ground around me, thankfully sparing my noggin.

Granddad had a bumper crop of apples this year. Many bags were given away and many apple crisps were made and the small size was perfect for Henry to snack on.

Seems like we always sleep a little better at the cabin.

The boys always enjoy putting a line in the pond.

Jack always enjoys his time at the cabin.

He reeeally enjoys the cabin!

You can tell by the big smile on his face.

Here We Go Again

Late summer is gone, Fall is over and winter is officially here. We've obviously been very busy since I haven't had the time to update the blog. The summer with the arrival of Fisher and the fall with all the Lexington activities have been so fun, and with Christmas and the New Year upon us, it can only get better!
