Christmas 2009

Christmas...or otherwise known as, The Year I Couldn't Take a Decent Picture (no thanks to 2 squirmy models and the quaint {read:dark} lighting at the holidays).

CHRISTMAS EVE {PRESENTS WITH OMMY, POPPY AND AUNT KAKE (Uncle Cav and Aunt Whitney were in PA this year)}

Hope Santa was good to everyone. This was our first real year with "Santa" and it was tougher than I thought. Especially one day when we were on our way to daycare and Henry and I saw Santa driving a mini-van. He was equally delighted and baffled and asked me what he was doing. "Santa is on his way to his day job" was neither amusing or comforting to him. I'm realizing I need to come up with some clever responses for situations like this...I have a feeling next year he'll really keep us on our toes...and Fisher might get it by then too!

Have I ever mentioned my boys like to make faces and have so many expressions...

Lots of expressions...

What exactly was going on here? I'm posting them in the order they were taken and I don't for the life of me know what was going on.

And what is up with this one?

I love it. I absolutely adore it. I love the emotion and imagination of these 2 wonderful little human beings.

Speaking of faces, this poor kid. No matter what we do...lotion, cutting his nails, Neosporin, Vaseline, kisses, tissues, whatever, it always looks like he had a fight with a briar patch and lost (with a runny nose). It is just him. Again, love it. (look at those eyelashes...with eyelashes like those, who cares?)

Let the wild present unwrapping begin!

Let's count the number of toys this year make noise...no, that would be too hard, let's just count the musical instruments. We're thinking about starting a little family band.

Let's take a moment to pause and look at Aunt Kake's pretty wrapping.

Musical instrument #2...an accordion!

Henry got a squeeze box (Mama never sleeps at night). {apologies to The Who}

Henry's gift to Fisher was a big success.

Now those are some blocks I won't mind seeing all over the floor!

Or these!

Musical interlude #1.

Musical interlude #2.

I wish you could hear and see this dumptruck...no, really, I wish you could see and hear it and take it home with you. (Just kidding Dad!) This truck dances, talks...and actually does dump things.

Sports interlude.

Not a musical instrument...but musical none the less...continuing the theme.

Don't you think so Leo?

Just to step away from the kiddo presents for just a moment....look at what my Mommy made me...she took pictures of these letters all around town. I love it!

How 'bout another tune....#3.
(wow, that is a dirty face...that flash is unmerciful!)

Nighty night...Santa is coming in the morning!

MERRY CHRISTMAS! {CHRISTMAS MORNING AT THE CABIN, GIBSON CHRISTMAS}

the things

Santa brought us

our

stockings!

Someone (surprise, surprise) got a horse!

And then the cowboy did a lot of hanging out in the saddle of his new horse, Pablo IV (or we might be up to V, all horses Henry has is named for Aunt Whitney's horse Pablo.)

Christmas breakfast. Henry is obviously pretty happy about the blueberries.

Musical interlude #4...Roy Rogers' style.

The new horse seemed pretty big until, in sharp contrast...we see Boulder...often mistaken for a sturdy horse.

Time to do some present rattling.

Ready for another tune?

Santa brought Henry a watch. Now, if he could just learn what the numbers mean.

Fisher is always there to lend a hand to his big brother.

What could it be?

...is it?

a Buzz Light Year?

AND Woody?

How much did this thing cost anyway? Always fun to combine presents. The new grocery scanner getting a trial run.

CHRISTMAS NIGHT {ALLEN FAMILY GATHERING}

Getting 5 little boys to all look in one place and smile....it would be a Christmas Miracle.

We got close (open your eyes Henry)!

But when we told them to be silly I think we got the best ones!

TWAS THE MORNING AFTER CHRISTMAS {BREAKFAST WITH MOMMY ANN AND BOB}

This game is called...3 little cousins gaining their independence and feeling confident about playing on the landing of the stairs.

J.O.C.K.E.Y.S. O.M.G!

Aunt Julie and a lapful of {sourdough waffle stuffed} boys.

Back at the cabin. This is what we saw every morning.

Another successful and happy Christmas. Thank you to everyone for the fabulous gifts and more importantly, the wonderful times.

Merry Christmas to all....and to all a good night!

Ya'll really looked like you were having some big fun. Henry and Fisher really made out, they must have been really good boys. I love the Roy Rodgers photo. Henry really has a good imagination. Fisher's expressions are too cute. That little boy is so animated. Owen really looked like he some serious Christmas morning hair going on. Julie and the three amigos, what at picture.
